HE (LIST HAS IT SPELLED “ROZELLA”) WAS AWARDED DSC MEDAL #140 WHILE SERVING (AS LT.COL.) IN THE 22ND INFANTRY REGIMENT ON MAY 28-30, 1918, NEAR CANTIGNY, FOR EXTRAORDINARY HEROISM WHEN HIS BATALLION HELD OFF A GERMAN ATTACK, LOSING HALF ITS OFFICERS AND 30 PERCENT OF HIS MEN – PREVENTING A BREAK THROUGH IN HIS LINE.
