THIS TUNIC (FROM PAPERS IN POCKET) BELONGED TO “SGT 1ST CLASS HARRIS S. KNIGHT, DET.#6, A.S.A.P. DETROIT, MICH./ SERIAL NUMBER 972472”. ONE PAPER (MARCH 27, 1919 DATED) LISTS THE THINGS HE WORE HOME TO BE RETURNED WITHIN 120 DAYS WITH LABEL SUPPLIED AT NO COST. THE LABEL (FROM WAR DEPARTMENT/ BUREAU OF AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION) IS WITH THE PAPERWORK! HE WAS FROM SALEM, MASS,. OTHER SOLDIERS I SPOKE WITH SAID THEY RECEIVED A LETTER TELLING THEM TO KEEP THEIR UNIFORMS WORN HOME. IF THE DID NOT GET AN OVERCOAT THEY WOULD SEND THEM ONE.
