TUNIC & HAT: GERMAN WWI RED CROSS VOLUNTEER (FREIWILLIGEKRANKENPFELEGE): CUT ON THE 1915 TUNIC STYLE WITH STAND-FALL COLLAR BUT WITH NO ROLL CUFFS, ALL ELSE IS SAME. MADE IN CHARCOAL GRAY WOOL (WE HAD AN M15 IN THIS COLOR ONE TIME) WITH GRAY COTTON LINING, OUTSIDE FLAP POCKETS, WHITE COLLAR TABS WITH RED CROSS, WAIST ADJUSTMENT TIE IN INNER BACK CENTER (CAN DRAW IT IN), ALL RED CROSS BUTTONS & REAR BELT RAMPS. HAS ON LEFT UPPER SLEEVE A WWI GERMAN RED CROSS BAND. ALL IN EXC+ CONDITION, SHOWS SLIGHT WEAR (& SOME FAINT BLEEDING OF THE RED WOOL ON THE COLLAR TABS FROM WEARING IN THE RAIN). WITH THIS TUNIC IS THE CORRECT CAP IN WHITE LINEN, WHITE PIPED CROWN, FIELDGRAY BAND WITH RED PIPING, SOME MARKINGS INSIDE HAT (ONE IS FAINT – INK WORKED ON THE LINING BECAUSE IT
IS ACID BASED), SOME RESTITCHING (RESTORATION) DONE ON SWEAT BAND AND MISSING
THE RED WOOL CROSS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN WHERE THE NATIONAL KOKARDE WAS NORMALLY PLACED – ALL RATES VG-EXC SHOWING LIGHT USE). THESE ARE VERY. THE INK STAMP THAT IS FAINT WAS “ETAPPENARZT DER III ARMEE”. A VERY SCARCE TUNIC. IN THE POCKET IS A PHOTO POST CARD SHOWING MEN WEARING THESE TUNICS & HATS (WAS FOLDED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE INNER BANDAGE POCKET SO IT IS CREASED) BUT CLEAR AND DATED 1914. SAME NUMBER – NEW DESCRIPTION AND PICTURE W/HAT.
