COVER, SPIKED HELMET, MODEL 1884 (USED UNTIL 1892) EM “MANOVER KAPPE” IN WHITE, MADE FOR THE KAISER MANEUVERS(WAR GAMES). THIS IS THE VERY FIRST(TYPE 1) SPIKED HELMET COVER INTRODUCED BY THE GERMAN ARMY, RESERVED FOR FIELD MANEUVERS ONLY (THE “ENEMY” WORE THESE). IT IS ONE-PIECE CONSTRUCTION, ALL WHITE W/4 CLIPS. EXC++, LIKE NEW CONDITION. IT WAS DESIGNED FOR NO OTHER PURPOSE. THE TYPE 2 CAME IN 1892 WHEN THEY WENT TO A CAMO TYPE COVER IN GREEN, GRAY OR BROWN, BUT DID NOT HAVE THE EXTRA RED BAND UNTIL 1908, PLUS IT HAD CLOTH STRIPS CLOTH STRIPS FOR THE SPIKE BOOT (DESIGNED TO ACCOMODATE THE DIFFERENT SPIKE HEIGHTS). THIS IS A VERY RARE EARLY COVER USED FROM 1884 TO 1892 ONLY.
